Thomas was preceded in death by his grandmother Mary Minor, his grandfather Selwyn P. Lewis, Sr. and his brother Eric Dade.
He is survived by his loving wife Katrina Dade of Charlottesville, Va; his mother Darlene Morton of Barboursville, Va; his father Thomas Dade, Sr. of Orange, Va; his mother-in-law Joanne Rogers of Charlottesville, Va (her husband Stanley); a son, Antonio Johnson of Charlottesville, Va; five sisters Felita Crews of Charlottesville, Va; Latoya Towles of Washington, DC; Nikeya Dade of Richmond, Va; Ashley Chapman of Charlottesville, Va; Maria Chapman currently residing in California. Four brothers Cordrick Dade of Washington, DC; Cortez Dade of Washington, DC; Jamar Chapman of Harrisonburg, Va; Demetrick Chapman of Charlottesville, Va. One sister-in-law Chanetta Cooper of Charlottesville, VA. Two brother-in-laws Michael Cook, Sr. of Charlottesville, VA; Brian Cook of Charlottesville, VA. Eight aunts Cheryl Lewis and Glenda “Dale” Hill of Charlottesville, VA; Karen “KayKay” Quarles of Gordonsville, VA (her husband Sam); Ivy Beasley of Orange, VA; Selena Hamlin of Orange, VA (her husband Jeff), Margo Lewis of Orange, VA (her husband Sammy); Antherine Hopkins of Orange, VA (her husband Billy); Estelle Dorsey of Orange, VA (her husband Derek) and Sheila Hawkins of Americus, GA (her husband Alfred). Four uncles Selwyn Lewis, Jr. and Michael Lewis of Gordonsville, VA; Michael and Roland Minor of Barboursville, VA. He is also survived by four loving grandchildren Heaven Johnson, Nyajah Jones, Zy'Air Johnson and Naila Butler (due in September); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and many devoted friends.
Thomas attended Orange County High School. He received his GED in January 2011. He was employed at Graphic Packaging in Staunton, VA until the time of his death. Throughout his neighborhood and during career at Graphic Packaging, Augusta Lumber, Target Distribution Center and Golden Corral he met, mentored and befriended so many that he now calls family, many of whom are present. He had a genuine love for people and a desire for them to be the best that they could be. He was a hard worker, had an infectious personality, was always positive and always made you laugh. He completely turned his life around to be an example for others. He was a devoted Washington Redskins fan and he loved the outdoors. He loved with his whole heart and his spirit will live on in us all forever.
