Obituary of Steve Wade Hunt
Steve Hunt, a loving son and brother, passed away peacefully on Thurs. Aug. 4, 2016 at Martha Jefferson Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on Oct. 14, 1965 and is preceded in death by his father, Edward Lee Hunt Sr and a sister, Linda Lee Hunt. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Shifflett Hunt Wood of Zions Cross Roads. Steve leaves behind a step-father, Roy Wood. He is survived by a daughter, Constance (Connie) Mason of Greenville, her husband Mark, and a granddaughter Lilly Mason. He is also survived by his brother Edward Lee Hunt Jr and his wife Patricia of Palmyra, VA and his sisters, Donna and Grant Webster of Charlottesville, and Wanda and Buddy Davis of Troy. Steve liked spending time with his half-brother, Timothy Thacker and his wife Jennifer and family. Steve is survived by a host of Hunt and Shifflett relatives too numerous to list. Steve also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews: Carl Curtis Hughes, Carlene Hughes, Ashleigh Fox, Izabell and Olivia Sampson, Dylan and Tyler Sampson. Steve enjoyed spending time with all of his special friends. Previously Steve worked as a foreman for Lowe Mechanical for 30 years until the company closed. At his death, Steve was employed by Lowes of Charlottesville in the assembly area where he especially enjoyed the team members there. He loved family gatherings, skiing in Jackson Hole & Snowshoe, Stephen King novels, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and a fan of Kasey Kahne the NASCAR driver. He always had a project going on around the house. He loved going to Gettysburg with Wanda and Buddy for Bike Week. When he could spare time, he fished. The family would like to thank the ICU unit at Martha Jefferson for his care during his brief illness. A visitation will be from 6-8 pm at Teague Funeral Home on Monday, August 8. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug 9 at the Teague Chapel at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Rock Springs United Methodist Church in Faber, Virginia.
