He is Grandpa Bob to both myself and our kids, at the very least.  We were looking forward to giving him a send off with the same joy that he always showered on us, and somehow missed the opportunity.  Some months after my dad passed away, we were in his home and there was a color printout on his fridge of my dad and my aunt, I believe the last photo taken of my dad.  It froze me in my tracks, as I forgot momentarily that they knew each other.  

I like to think of them enjoying each other's nudge nudge wink winks, unique to their shape of their own souls, and look forward to joining in when it is my turn.

Many thanks to Grandpa Bob, for for being uniquely himself. All the diversity of friendships and interests he sustained which alternately amused, enriched, inspired, and comforted all of us.

Grandpa Bob, yours was the first home in Charlottesville that my husband brought me to, in 1998 or 1999 before we got married.  It came to be a refuge, and a place to enjoy the company of your people, a place to pray, a place to learn, and tastiest of all, a place to eat everyone's favourite dishes at the loveliest potlucks.

Bob was pure love and happiness. When I went to visit him recently in the convalescents center , he asked me, “Are you happy?”  I loved that he was the one I should have asked the question too!
He would make a joke and laugh harder than anyone in the room, which made everyone laugh more.
He was so smart and would explain complicated topics so anyone could understand . And he would do explain in a loving way so you won’t feel like a simpleton.
I will miss  him so much. I am sure he is off on the adventure of his life with his loving wife Dottie.

I came out of a store in Charlottesville one happy day in 2008 and there were Bob and Annette in his car. What a happy "coincidence" and treasured snapshot.☺

I got to spend time with Bobby a little at community gatherings about a decade ago.  Such a sweet soul!  What wonderful experiences and reunions he must be experiencing now!  Prayers for him and family

I volunteer with Meals on Wheels and so looked forward to seeing and chatting with Mr. Riggs every Thursday for the past several years.  What a interesting life he had.  We would talk about his inventions , his spiritual beliefs, his website , his writings, his daughter, his friends.  I would always deliver his lunch last so that I could enjoy a visit with him.   I loved his optimism and good humor.   A lovely man who will be missed .  My condolences to his daughter and many friends .
