She is survived by her husband of 68 years, James; three sons and their spouses: Terry and Sharon Sanders, Timothy and DeAun Sanders and Thomas and Lori Sanders; seven grandchildren: Timothy, Thomas, Brian, Molly, Jesse, Kelly and Courtney; eight great-grandchildren; and her twin sister, Nola Gilbertson.

Norma married her Air Force serviceman in Columbus, OH and moved to Tokyo, Japan where they resided for two and a half years under assumed names while employed by the CIA. Returning to the United States, they lived in Florida, Ohio, Minnesota, Georgia, and Virginia. She retired from the Labor Department of the State of Georgia.
Norma was steadfastly devoted to the Lord and her family. She was dedicated in service for over 50 years to Evangel Community Church, Centerville, Georgia. She enjoyed reading, playing games, gardening, watching birds in her yard, always pursuing knowledge, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was a symbol of resilience, weaving a thread of faith and unity throughout the family. We are grateful and thankful to have had our wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother in our lives.
A visitation will be held for Norma on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Rd, Charlottesville, Virginia 22903.
