Kenneth was born on November 11, 1956, in Albemarle County, to the late John Thomas Walker Sr. and Florence Leathers Walker. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy Yvonne Walker, his daughter Sandra Lynn Walker, son-in-law Jonny Wayne Morris of Stanardsville, his son Kenneth Bruce Walker Jr. and his wife Peggy Jean Walker of North Garden. He is also survived by two older brothers, John Thomas Walker Jr. and James Harvey Walker Sr. Kenneth was also the proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Kelcie, Ryan, Alissa, Kenneth III, Kalie, Abigail and one great grandchild, Bentley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Kenny was a graduate of Albemarle High School in June, 1975. He then started a job with Phillip’s Building Supply and from that moved on to work for several contractors and individual carpenters. Later on, as his dad grew older and his mother had passed away, Kenny left the carpentry trade and started to work full time with his dad on the family farm. Kenny enjoyed every part of the farm lifestyle. He was proud of his herd of Angus cattle and very fond of his chickens. He was an avid gardener and loved to both hunt and fish. Kenny also enjoyed Bluegrass music, watching professional wrestling and old western TV shows.
Kenny will be most remembered for his gentle spirit and his giving heart. He always looked forward to summer vacations at Nags Head with his family, but the things that made him smile the most was spending time with his children, grandchildren and his little great grandson, Bentley. Kenny’s life was blessed by a large number of close friends which were a great comfort and help to him. He was also blessed by many that were his health care providers. Two of the care givers that he mentioned most often were Mrs. Reeves and Angie Jenkins. Kenny was always grateful to the many doctors, nurses and dialysis care givers that helped him deal with the diabetes and dialysis that was an ongoing battle for much of his life. Through it all, he seldom complained and never gave up hope.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 6-8pm at Teague Funeral Service in Charlottesville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 10am, also at the funeral home.
