Janet C Wood

Janet Cornell Wood, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 22, 2021. Born January 16, 1944, in Charlottesville, VA to Robert Thacker Belew and Hazel Virginia Cornell Belew, she was raised by James R. Cornell and Louisa Shelton Cornell and her cousin, Robert L. “Bobby” Cornell was more like a brother. The Wood family have been long time members of Belmont Baptist church and Mrs. Wood retired from UVA Hospital after thirty-two years of service. Mrs. Wood is survived by her two children; as son Timothy W. Wood and his wife Sandra M. Wood and her daughter Michelle W. Williams, four grandchildren; Jacob W. Paytner, Savannah Wood Bevins and her husband Isaac J. Bevins, and Austin Wayne Williams and his fiancé Savhanna Herndon and Reannah Nichole Wood; Ms. Robert L. Cornell “Janette” she considered as a Sister-in-Law; two special nieces; Sandy Rea, her husband Gene Rea and Wanda Gayle Thurston. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her spouse of fourty-nine years, Clarence Franklin Wood, Jr. The family would like to give thanks to very special long-time friends of Janet’s that were more like family; Helen “Chi Chi” Hibbs, Ruby Cronk and Jean Van Fossen. They made her life complete and made many memorable stories. Also, special thanks to long-time neighbors and friends for their kindness over many years; Mr. and Mrs. Eppard, Mrs. Homer Martin and Mr. Paul Ebersole. They helped keep each other up on the neighborhood news of Belmont. The family is thankful to Hospice for the care and the support they provided. The family will receive family and friends at Teague Monday, April 26th, 2021 from 6 to 8pm The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, April 27th, 2021 at 1pm Southside Church of God on Avon Extended with Pastor Larry Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Garden cemetery at 3pm.
