James Elmer Shifflett Jr.

James E. Shifflett, Jr., 59, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 17, 2016. He was born on August 4, 1957 to the late James E. and Ellen Morris Shifflett. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Martin Luther and Rosa E. Shifflett and James Lloyd and Lydia F. Morris, and his niece, Jennifer Elizabeth Campos. James retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 30 years of dedicated service to pursue his passion of working outdoors tending his farm. He loved nothing more than working hard every day taking care of his crops and his cattle. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Carolyn Shifflett and Peggy Campos (Victor); his very special niece and nephew, Amber and Michael Campos; his aunt Geneva Via; and a host of other loving family and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of DaVita Dialysis and Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital for their compassionate care for James. Also, a very special thanks to Dr. McConnell for his exemplary care and support. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11 am at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road in Charlottesville. Pastor James Jinks will officiate. Interment will follow at Gentry Cemetery in Free Union, VA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at Teague Funeral Service.
