Garrett Allen Thomas

Gary was born in Albemarle County on July 24, 1955, to the late Alton Thomas and his surviving mother Nancy Thomas. He was also preceded in death by a sister Nancy Bronstad (Emch, Thomas).

In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his childhood friend, high school sweetheart and loving wife of 48 years, Eleanor Thomas; two sons, Bradley (Nina) Thomas, Timothy Thomas; four granddaughters, Rose (Evan), Emily, Natalie and Veronica; one grandson, Benjamin; three brothers, Scott (Carol) Thomas, Steve (Karen) Thomas, Eddie (Debbie) Thomas, and many nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.

Throughout his life, Gary learned how to fix any machine and could always be counted on to help you out. He had a passion for cooking. He loved the great outdoors, hunting, gardening, and especially loved being in the mountains where he and his wife raised their two sons. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
