Eugene was born June 18, 1932, the oldest son of the late Lacy McCall Holsapple and Jessie Goode Holsapple. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward, Dewey, Lee Roy, and Roger Holsapple, his sisters Helen Walton and Lucille Farmer.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Elizabeth Holsapple, sons David and Gregory Holsapple, daughter in-law Audrey Morris, grandchildren, Darian, Adam, Lexy, Elleyna, and Charles Holsapple, great grandchildren, Paul and Emmett Holsapple and Vilulah Durflinger.
In 1952, he entered the Army where Corporal Eugene Holsapple would be stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Picket, VA, and later Fort Campbell, KY, where he would receive honors for his enthusiasm and loyalty to his assigned duties, military bearing, and soldier appearance.
He was known for his countless stories about his encounters he had and the numerous friends he made during his career as a salesman for Betsy Ross Flowers and Lance, throughout his 30+ years of service. He never met a stranger.
After retiring, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and listening to music especially instrumentals by Chet Atkins. You always could find him at home in his yard tinkering with something. In the earlier years, he loved going to the Moose Lodge for a night out dancing or just socializing among his fellow moose friends.
A time of Visitation for Eugene will be held on Saturday December 28, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Teague Funeral Service 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, VA 22903, following Visitation a Funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Lindsey Ellis presiding, Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Holly Memorial Gardens 3251 Seminole Trail Charlottesville, VA 22911.
In lieu of flowers, Eugene's family ask that a memorial contribution be made to a charitable organization.
