Doris Louise Morris, also known as Marie, Mom, Grandma, Granny, Nana, Grandma Marie and Grandma Teenager, 91, of Boonesville, VA passed away on December 2, 2023.
She was born to the late Charles and Fannie (Collier) Elliott on February 19, 1932.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Virginia Morris Herring, her grandchildren, Shannon Herring and his wife, Analisa; Kelley Shifflett and her husband, Stan. Marie had four great - grandchildren that were her pride and joy, Braedon and his wife, Jess, Marley, Emma Herring and her boyfriend, Devin Skidmore and Logan Shifflett. She also loved and was loved by her Nortonsville Church of God family.
In addition to her parents, Marie is predeceased by her husband, Richard Morris; her brothers, George and Elmer; her sisters, Mary Jane, Inez and Frances; her favorite son in law, whom she loved like her own, Donnie Herring.
We would like to invite family and friends to join us in celebrating the life of Marie on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Nortonsville Church of God, 1505 Simmons Gap Rd. Dyke, VA 22935. Viewing and visitation will begin at 12:00pm with a funeral service to immediately follow at 1:00pm. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery, 615 Evergreen Church Rd. Dyke, VA 22935 to follow the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes you consider making a donation in Marie’s honor to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway Suite 300 Charlottesville VA 22911.
The family expresses extreme gratitude for all of the love and care Marie received from her caregivers with Hospice of the Piedmont over the last year
