Obituary of David Russell Handy
David Russell Handy, 51, of Fishersville, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016. He was born on July 16, 1964, to the late Clay C. Handy and Betty Jarrell. He was the beloved husband of Deborah Handy for 31 years. He worked for UVA for 22 years as a locksmith and also at Stanley Security Systems. He was always a rocker at heart, and he loved to play his music loud to start his day. He was known by his friends as "Keymaster of the Universe", because locks and keys were such a large part of his life. He never knew a stranger, and he talked to everyone, including animals. He would often extend kindness and help to anyone in need. In addition to his wife, Debbie, David is survived by his son, Bradley Hunt and Bradley’s girlfriend, Tina Doyle; two grandchildren, Christopher Meadows, and Haley Meadows, and their mother, Alma Hunt; his brothers, Curtis Handy Jr., and Steve Handy; step-brother, Matt Jarrell; two step-sisters, Angela "Cissy" Jarrell, and Amy Harris and her husband, Ricky; three nephews, Steven, David, and Curtis Handy; and two nieces, Kim and Stephanie Handy. He had extended family all over the country and many close friends who he considered his family. David had three beloved furry girls, Amy, Sugar, and Maggie. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1, 2016, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville. A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Monday, May 2, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Monticello Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org. Condolences may be offered to the family at teaguefuneralhome.com.
