Barbara Ann Hussey

Barbara Shifflett Hussey, born September 3, 1951 of Earlysville went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully at her home in Earlysville Virginia on Sunday December 18 2022. She is predeceased by her former husband (William Hussey SR, of Earlysville, VA). She is survived by her son William Hussey Jr, brother Carl ‘Butch’ Shifflett, both of Earlysville VA, and sisters Judy Phelan, of Ruckersville, VA, and Pauline Dorsey of Barboursville, VA. She is also survived by a very special niece Stacey Michelle Townsend of North Garden, and John Robert Townsend of Ruckersville Va. Putting herself through nursing school just after high school,, Barbara became an LPN and remained involved in the medical community until she retired in 2018. Barbara was the devoted mother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend that everyone wished for. She had an opinion that was relied on, advice that was depended on, a smile that would charm. She was a mother to many, stranger to none, smile that’s contagious, and her work’s just begun. She won this world over, and the world won. It won because she was in it. The family would like to thank Wanda Shifflett and Bonnie Terrell of Ruckersville (Medi Home Hospice) and Doctor Brooke Bostic for their faithful service and keeping her days bright as they could shine during her final years. A visitation for friends and family will be at Teague Funeral Home 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, VA 22903, from 3-6 PM on Tuesday December 27, 2022. A Graveside service will be held at Holly Memorial Garden (29 North) at 1PM on December 28, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
