Willie Dixon Morgan Yandle of Matthews, NC, passed away on September 18, 2012 at Matthews Presbyterian Hospital after a courageous two year battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Born July 6, 1928, in Stanly County, NC, Willie was the oldest child of the late Bryce Morgan and Etta Mullis. Mrs. Yandle was predeceased by her husband of nearly 63 years, James Dowd Yandle. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Yandle and wife, Kathy, of Charlotte; and three granddaughters, Emily Rottmann (David) of Jacksonville, FL, Jill Yandle of Winston-Salem, and Molly Yandle of Charlotte. She is also survived by her sisters Margaret Lucas and Frances Little (Tim) of Locust, Betty Griffin (Harold) of Marshville, Carolyn Helms (Barry) of Monroe, and Terry McCracken (John) of Waynesville, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Morgan, of Stanfield.
Mrs. Yandle grew up in Union County and graduated from New Salem High School. She retired after working at Navistar International, Soabar, and B&B X-Ray. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 3:00 PM at MorningStar Presbyterian Church, 13000 Idlewild Rd., Charlotte, NC with the Reverend Steve Mitchell presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 2:00, at the church. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
