William Grubb Smith

A graveside service with military honors will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 24, at Sharon Memorial Park.

Mr. Smith was a native of Pennsylvania and has lived in Charlotte for the last 28 years. He was a proud veteran of World War II, having served as a fighter pilot with the U.S. Army-Air Corps. He attended Bucknell University and was an avid woodworker. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ruth Grubb Smith, and brother, Robert Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Smith; children, Jeffrey W. Smith (Laura), and Suzanne H. Koenigsberg; sister, Shirley Diehl; grandchildren, Alexandra Cayman Smith, Jeffrey W. Smith, II, and Siri Suzanne Thomas (Grimes); and great-grandchildren, William Bo Thomas and Sky Hana Smith. He is also survived by stepchildren, Deborah Burtnett (Jim), Russell Glosser (Stacy), Harry W. Glosser, Jr. (Beth), and Sandra Glosser; several step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, one great, great-grandson; and his best friend, Mike Smith.
