Born in the town of Glen Alpine, NC on August 31, 1930, he was a son of the late Thomas C. Proctor and Hessie Jane Bledsoe Proctor. Mr. Proctor served in the U.S. Air Force 1st Radio Squadron during the Korean War conflict. He spent three years stationed in Japan breaking Chinese code and writing summaries of the enemy’s next day combat plans. Mr. Proctor was a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He was a founder of Astone Fabricators Inc. where he worked in several management positions. At his death he was Chairman of the Board of Directors. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and traveling: having visited every state in the US, several Canadian Provinces and other countries as well.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, September 28th at the Derita Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service with Rev. Jake Butler officiating. The U.S. Air Force will present military honors.
Mr. Proctor is survived by his wife of 57 years, Laura Austin Proctor; two sons, Stephen Proctor and wife Lynn, of Morganton, NC, William Proctor and wife Marla, of Houston, TX; three daughters, Amy Detter and husband Michael, of Kannapolis, NC, Leanna Dunn and husband Lance, of Monroe, NC, Beth Van Kempen and husband Richard, of Albany, NY and four grandchildren, Taylor Goodman and husband Chris, of Salisbury, NC, Stephanie Proctor, of Concord, NC, Alexias Proctor, of Houston TX and Kayden Proctor, of Houston, TX.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for all the assistance they received from Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville and the paramedics of Mecklenburg County MEDIC.
We also wish to recognize the caregivers who have made the past two years easier for Mr. Proctor; Poppy, Jodi, Mary, Annie and Helen.
