William A Mims Jr.

William ‘Tony’ Arthur Mims Jr of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away November 17, 2021 peacefully in his home at the age of 89. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Pepaw, and Friend to so many.

Tony was born on August 2, 1932 in Wadesboro, NC to the late Mable and William Mims Sr. He was married to his wife June Mims, until her death in 2001, then married to Barbara Mims until her death in 2019.

He served four years in the US Navy. He also served the Charlotte Fire Department for 31 years as an engineer for station #6.

Tony had many friends and enjoyed hanging out with them. He was an active member at the local YMCA.

He loved spending time on Lake Norman where he fished, told stories, jokes, and shared life lessons while on the water. He enjoyed watching football, and going out every week to eat with special friends. He looked forward to barbecues and special gatherings with his family.

Tony treasured his church Hunter Acres Baptist. He regularly attended and cherished when his family would join him in attendance.

William is Preceded in death by June Ramos Getubig Mims, Barbara Mims, William Matthew Shingler, Mabel Francis Burns Mims, William Arthur Mims.

He is survived by Cynthia Washam (Scott Washam), Mooresville, NC, Deborah Mims (Thomas Higley), Lakeland,FL, William Arthur Mims III (Buddy) (Jean Mims), Mooresville, NC, Missy Mims,Kirkman (Christopher Kirkman), Mooresville, NC, Philip Kirk Mims (Nita Haley), Mooresville, NC

6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
