Ward Maynard Eulitt, 59, went to be with his Lord on May 9th, 2021, after battling melanoma cancer. He received excellent care at Atrium (Levine Cancer Center) in Charlotte and MD Anderson in Houston, TX. He was the seventh child of eight born to the late Ellen Teresa Rose Ward and Jack Everett Eulitt.
He was raised in Charlotte and married his high school sweetheart, Andrea West, and had two sons, Mark and Matthew. Years later, he married Cindy Zedaker and had his youngest son, John.
Growing up, Ward enjoyed participating in diving competitions at Sardis Swim Club and archery and sharpshooting competitions with the Boy Scouts. He was a sports enthusiast, baseball in particular, and an avid chess player. Family time was spent learning challenging board games, card games and video games. Favorites included Risk, Axis & Allies, Backgammon, Cribbage, Gin & Spades, Pac Man and Tempest.
Ward enjoyed his working career by building relationships with co-workers and clients. He started his professional career as a manager at O'Brian's Restaurant before joining Monarch Color and working for Jack West. Later he joined the US Postal Service, where he retired in 2018.
Ward knew his heavenly home was earned by Jesus, not him. He confessed his sins to God and professed his faith in Jesus. He thanked God for dying on the cross for him.
Besides his parents, Ward is preceded in death by two older brothers, Mark Roderick Eulitt and John Charles Eulitt.
Surviving siblings, Paul Ward Eulitt (Sherry), Ellicott City, MD, Mary Ellen McDonald (Bruce), Charlotte, Madeleine (Mayde) Lowery (Guy), Hodges, SC, Mercedes Eulitt (Sean), Watsonville, CA, and Luke Matthew Eulitt (his caretaker in his final months), Spring, TX.
His sons, Mark Everett Eulitt (Carrie), Vienna, WV, Matthew Reece Eulitt (Emily), Morganton, NC, and John Ellis Eulitt, Charlotte. Grandchildren, Bella Graye Gregory and Zachary James Sullivan. His niece, Bria Kathleen Irizarry (Danny), Durham, NC, and nephews, Dr. Patrick John Eulitt (Sarah), Lone Tree, CO and Nicholas Matthew Wright-Eulitt, Spring, TX.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 am on Saturday, May 15th, at McEwen Funeral Home at Myers Park. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens and Cemetery.
