He was born July 30, 1920 in Harrod, Ohio, son of Howard and Bertha (Chambers) Binkley.
In 1942, he married Bettie Jean Huber of Lima and their marriage lasted 70 years until she passed away in 2012.
A member of the Greatest Generation, he was raised during the Great Depression and served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII, spending the last days of the war on Iwo Jima.
Both before and after his military service, he worked at The Metropolitan Bank in Lima, Ohio, and retired as Vice President after 43 years. During the many years he lived in Lima, Mr. Binkley was active in the Jaycees, the Optimist Club, Lima Senior High Booster Club, and was a long-time member of Lost Creek Country Club. After retirement, he and Bettie resided in Bradenton, Florida for many years eventually moving to North Carolina.
An avid sports fan, he loved golf - shooting his age starting at age 70 - and was a life-long Ohio State Buckeyes fan. More recently, he followed the Carolina Panthers and could be found watching any and all sports on TV.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred (Binkley) Waltz and his son-in-law, Gordon Thomas Slusser, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Linda (Ron) Ramge, Indian Land, SC; son Robert (Kathleen) Binkley, Niles, MI; grandchildren Todd and Scott Slusser, Travis, Rheanna, and Schyler Binkley; seven great-grandchildren; and loving companion Marian Lord.
