Virginia Madeline Hill Moore

Mrs. Moore, age 97, of Florida and formerly of Mint Hill, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012.

She was born February 4, 1915 in Osborne, North Carolina the daughter of the late L.V. Hill and Delia Rebecca Harris Hill.

A funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was for many years an active member of Spencer Memorial United Methodist Church in Charlotte NC, as well as the Eastern Star. In the 1960’s, she ran for a seat on the Charlotte City Council. In recent years, she was a docent at the historical property of Rosedale on North Tryon Street in Charlotte NC.

Mrs. Moore was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Mr. Horace H. Moore; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Bailes Howard, Mrs. Stella Butler and Mrs. Annie Thrower; two brothers, Lattie Hill and A. J. Hill.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her beloved extended family; Mrs. R. Susan Smith; Mrs. Terrell (Guy Hickman, Jr.) Hickman; Mr. Charles (Elaine) Bailes; Mrs. Lora (David) Dixon; Mrs. Dana (Robert) Cole; Ms. Sharon Smith; Mr. Guy Hickman III; Ms. Meredith Hickman; Mr. Dustin Hickman; Ms. Olivia Cole; Ms. Miranda Cole, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to thank all the people who helped with Mrs. Moore’s care and to Hospice for helping her in her final days.
