Thomas J. Norby, Jr., aged 59 of Charlotte, died March 7, 2010. A visitation with the family will be held at Harry and Bryant Co., 500 Providence Rd., on Wednesday, March 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, 1000 E. Morehead St., Charlotte, NC, on Thursday, March 11, at 4:30 p.m. Tom was a much beloved husband and father, a brilliant man dedicated to his work and a giving man whose family meant everything to him. He had a long and distinguished career as a trusted financial advisor at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he was also educated at the Securities Industry Association Institute at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He loved driving, photography, and spending time with his wife and son. He served on the board of directors for Community Link, a United Way agency, and on the board of governors for Crown Athletic Club, and was treasurer of the Charlotte Business Roundtable. He is survived by wife Paula Norby; stepson R. Page Tinsley and his wife, Julie Funderburk of Charlotte; mother, Pauline Cain Norby of Orlando, FL; brother, Robert Brent Norby and his wife, Julie Bullard Norby of Orlando, FL; nephew Julian Lucas “Luke” Norby and nieces Alexandra Leigh Norby and Elizabeth Victoria “Lizzie” Norby.
