Sylvia Robinson Banks, fondly known as "Sam", age 76, of Matthews, NC passed away peacefully at home due to Leukemia surrounded by her loving family on August 22, 2014. Sam was born in Brevard, NC on March 11, 1938 to the late Maude and Ira Robinson. Sam was married to Gerald Banks for 57 loving years. She owned and managed Top Notch Salon for 24 years. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Gerald; son, Jerry Banks; daughters, Debbie Hilton, Karen Banks and Barbara Shumate; grandchildren, Lindsay, Katie, Justin, Nicole, Chelsea and Logan; great-grandchildren, Kloie and Bryson; and sisters, Laverne Elliott and Phyllis Cash.
A service to celebrate Sam's life will be held at 6 pm Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Leukemia Society.
