Born May 12, 1958 in Charlotte, NC, Steve was the son of the late Fred Hirst Stroupe and Jacqueline Gilbert Stroupe. Steve graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1976. He earned a BS degree in Business Administration from for Appalachian State University in 1980 where was an active member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was an accountant for Prince Parker & Associates for 25 years.
Steve was an avid sports fan growing up playing all sports in the Starclaire Athletic Association in the 1960’s. He had a passion for all sports, but he especially loved his Appalachian State Football team. He was a huge supporter of the program and a long-time member of the Yosef Club. He was also a die-hard Atlanta Braves Baseball fan.
Steve was a true animal lover and for most of his life always had a loving pet by his side.
Steve is survived by his brother, Scott Stroupe (wife Helen) of Mooresville, NC; his nephews, Steven and Joseph Stroupe of Mooresville, NC; his niece, Crystal Nolin of Chicago, IL. Steve is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and his second family at Prince Parker & Associates.
A special heartfelt thanks to Chaplain Donnie Knell, cousin Terry Hoover Reynolds, Charles Allen, Charlie Bones, Todd Crowley and Jeff Parker for their loving care and commitment for Steve over the past few years.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 6pm to 9pm at McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. The service in celebration of Steve’s new life will be held at 3pm Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Starmount Church 1501 Starbrook Dr. Charlotte, NC 28210, Chaplain Donnie Knell officiating. Internment in the Elmwood City Cemetery will be private.
