Born at Camp Lejeune, NC, Shannon spent her first five years in Wilmington, NC then moving to Cayce, SC. She graduated from Airport High School and the University of South Carolina with a degree in Journalism. After graduation and a beautiful wedding at Rutledge Chapel on the university’s historic “horseshoe”, she spent years living in Atlanta, GA and Huntsville, AL before settling into her beloved Charlotte, NC.
Shannon was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Fort Mill, SC. Shannon’s favorite word was joy. She would love it if everyone would go out and make some Joy. She truly and deeply loved her three brothers, Jimmy, Joey and John and her surrogate family, the Wilsons: Tony, Gina, Liz and Natalie. She had a great laugh which you could hear across the room (or even sometimes down a crowded hall.) She often spoke about being of Irish heritage, loved traveling in the U.S. and Canada with her favorite cities being Santa Fe, Seattle and Portland, Maine. In Canada: Quebec and Victoria. She loved visiting botanical gardens and art museums. She had a very broad, beautiful and inclusive faith rooted in Christianity and her love of Jesus Christ. She had a great appreciation for Desmond Tutu’s story when someone asked him about freedom. He said something like “If they had not wanted us to be free, they should not have given us Bibles”.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband Ronald “Roddy” Craft and brothers James Houston Farrow of Apopka, FL, Joseph Edward Farrow of West Columbia, SC and John Alexander Leeuwenburg of Fair Play, SC.
A Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm Grace Presbyterian Church, 2955 W. Highway 160, Fort Mill, SC 29708.
