Charlotte, NC-Scott Brian Murray, 45, of Wylie Meadow Lane died Tuesday afternoon, December 10, 2013 following an accident at his residence
.
He was born in Bay Village, Ohio on April 9, 1968, son of John Murray Sr. of Norwalk, Ohio and the late Clara Chill Murray.
A Roman Catholic by faith, during his childhood he served as an altar boy. He also attained the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.
Scott graduated in 1986 from Western Reserve High School in Collins, Ohio where he played trumpet and served as student director of the band. Also during these years he ran track and cross country and was a committed lifeguard during the summer months.
Following high school, he attended Notre Dame University where he continued playing trumpet in the Notre Dame Marching Band, and was part of ROTC. In 1990, he graduated from Norte Dame and continued his education at Wake Forest Law School graduating with a J.D. in 1993.
Following college, he served as attorney for the U.S. Army from 1994 to 1999 and was presently working for Bank of America.
Scott was privileged to have run in the Marine Corps Marathon and the Boston Marathon.
He leaves two precious children, Carly and Elijah, and his wife, Kimberley Portman Murray, whom he married March 2, 1997.
Also surviving are four sisters, Theresa Tang and husband, Joseph of Sandusky, Oh, Sheila Candow and husband, Bob of Cleveland, Oh, Sandra Zeiter and husband, Harold of Norwalk, Oh and Jacqui Smith of Smithfield, NC; and, two brothers, John Murray Jr. and wife, Wendy of Norwalk, Oh and Michael Murray and wife, Arlene of Willard, Oh.
Also surviving is his Mother-in-law Judy Sikorski of McKinney, Tx and three sisters-in-law, Amy Dweck and husband, Sam of Frisco, Tx, Michelle Portman and Abby Acosta both of McKinney, Tx.
Memorial services are planned for 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel with Fr. Patrick Hoare of St. John Neumann Catholic Church officiating. Following the service, a time of visitation and fellowship will take place for family and friends.
