Sarah Virginia Blocker Leeper “Pete” of Charlotte died peacefully at home on April 23, 2011. She was born on June 10, 1921 in Manchester, GA. She moved to Charlotte as a young child and attended Harding High School. She met the love of her life, Charles F. Leeper in the sixth grade. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in January 2011.
Virginia was a homemaker, good wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Kilgo United Methodist Church and served as hostess for many years. She was a member of the Wesleyan class and loved to travel with the New Edition church group.
Mrs. Leeper was preceded in death by her mother Lillie Estelle Newman, her father Richard Asbury Blocker, one sister Y.Z. Blocker Smith, three brothers Frank Lester Blocker, Richard Asbury Blocker, and Walter Lee Blocker, and a special son-in-law Lindly Hall Westbrook.
Mrs. Leeper is survived by her daughter Sarah Leeper Westbrook of Rock Hill, SC; her son Charles Richard Leeper and wife Diane of Charleston, SC; granddaughter Sherrie W. Keaton of Matthews, three grandsons Brian L. Westbrook and wife Cindy of Waxhaw, C. Christopher Leeper and wife Maureen of Summerville, SC; Nicholas A. Leeper of Charleston, SC; great grandson Jordan B. Keaton and great granddaughter Ashley P. Westbrook.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Kilgo United Methodist Church, 2101 Belvedere Avenue in Charlotte. Memorials can be made to Kilgo United Methodist Church or to the Shriners Hospital through Oasis Temple, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262.
