Sara Jean Hildreth Thompson, 76, passed away on August 9th 2020 at her home in Charlotte, NC of Cancer. She was born October 27, 1943 in Wadesboro NC, daughter of George Huntley Hildreth and Sara Hinson Hildreth.
After graduating from Wadesboro High School, as an Honor Graduate in 1962, Sara pursued a career in Nursing. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte, in 1965 and soon became registered in the State of North Carolina. Her Medical field included Pediatrics and Orthopedics where she enjoyed getting to know her patients and working with them. Sara also enjoyed a good Professional relationship with the Doctors she worked with along the way.
Survivors include her loving Husband of 54 years, Benjamin Thompson, Two Wonderful Sons, David Benjamin Thompson of Charlotte, NC. (wife Kathleen) and Brian Edward Thompson of Weddington, NC (wife Cindy). Three Adorable Grandchildren, Haley Christine Thompson, Arden Rhea Thompson and Liam Baird Thompson.
Other survivors include Brother, George Huntley Hildreth, Jr. of Monroe NC Sisters, Carolyon H.Demby of Cheraw SC and Nancy Ann H. Kent, of Coshocton Ohio.
The Grandchildren affectionately called her “MIMI”. Mimi believed in spoiling them and if they wanted it, they got it. They had great times together, especially sleepovers, shopping and eating out, or at the beach. A lot of secrets and laughter were shared during these times. Besides the children and Grandchildren, Sara had a great love for animals. She LOVED and SPOILED her special canine,“ Happy”, and enjoyed every moment of it. She felt so lucky to have such a caring family, the BEST Husband, Sons, Grandchildren, Animals and Friends.
She loved to laugh and loved a good joke and could talk to anyone.
Sara would say, “Life is not about what you gather, but what you scatter”.
“A limb has fallen from the family tree,
That says please don’t grieve for me.
Remember the Best Times, the laughter, the song,
The good life I lived while I was strong.”
A special thank you to Dr. Justin Favaro and his staff at Oncology Specialists of Charlotte, NC, for their care and kindness.
