Born on August 8, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN, Sally was the oldest of three children to her parents, Robert and Janet Andrews. She moved to Charlotte in 1982, and during her time in this wonderful city, she befriended many people, and was involved in numerous activities and charities. She loved to travel all over the world with her husband and family. Two travel highlights were her 70th and 75th birthdays, when she and her family went on an eight day rafting trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, and a two week journey to the Galapagos Islands.
Sally is survived by her husband, William Serenius; two children, Mark Whitney (Janet Whitworth), of Asheville, and Tracy Franks Smith, of Charlotte; three step-children, Jim Serenius of Boca Raton, Jeff Serenius (Martha), of Charlotte, and Jon Serenius (Kim), of Waynesville. She has seven wonderful grandchildren, Hayes and Josh Whitney, Emily and Wilson Serenius, and Anna, Thomas, and Max Serenius, and younger siblings, Robin Cohan (Dick), and Robert Andrews, Jr, both in Naples, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Janet Andrews, and a precious grandchild, Clara Louise Franks.
A service to celebrate Sally’s life will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 15th, 2018, at Christ Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC.
For those wishing to send memorial gifts, please consider Urban Ministry Center of Charlotte, or Muscular Dystrophy Association of Charlotte.
Last, and perhaps most important, a special note of thanks from Sally’s family to the staff and personal caregivers at Southminster.
