Ronald Blakeney

Mr. Blakeney was born January 25th, 1958 in Wingate, NC to the late James M. Blakeney and Gracie Lee Rorie.

He was a lifelong member of New Testament Holiness Church located in Charlotte, where he played the guitar and loved to fellowship with his sisters and brothers.

He enjoyed spending time with his family which consisted of indulging in food, playing cards and board games, fishing and gardening. He also loved devoting his free time to caring for his grandkids and supporting them in their many sports adventures.

He is survived by his 4 siblings: Gladys Blakeney, Catherine Taylor, Peggy Baker, and Roger Blakeney; 3 children: Ronald L. Blakeney, ShaunTara (Michael) Steffan, Kimberly (Akim) Mobley; and 10 grandchildren: Tai’Yon, Malayjah, Neveah, Madison, Shakima, Kennedy, Sameera, Lyndon, Amiyah, and one baby boy due in June.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Blakeney and Gracie Lee Rorie, and four siblings Jimmy Dale Blakeney, Claree Griffin, Donald Blakeney, and Bertha Jean Stevenson.

A service to celebrate Ronald’s life will be held Sunday, May 28th, 2023 at 2pm in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. Refreshments will be served for family and friends immediately following the service at the facility’s event center.
