Born August 23, 1943, Mr. Harkey was the son of the late John Ira Harkey and Pauline Rosman Harkey. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran, where he served from 1964 till 1968 on the U.S.S. Constellation. Mr. Harkey worked with Norfolk Southern Railroad for over 20 years.
Surviving are Sandra, his loving wife of 44 years; daughter, Kelli and husband, Jonathan Sisk; two sisters, Carol Yoder and husband, Myron, and Cindy Chambers and husband, David; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Harkey’s life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 17, at Matthews United Methodist Church. His family will receive friends following the service.
