Robert (Bob) Wright passed away peacefully on October 3 at age 84 surrounded by family at Presbyterian Hospital’s Harris Hospice. Born in Fall River, Mass., in 1926, he led a full life alongside Maxine, his sweetheart of 59 years.
He graduated from B. M. C. Durfee High School in Fall River and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Bryant University in Rhode Island as an accountant and had a long career as a cost analyst working for General Motors. He moved to Charlotte, N.C., in 1989 to be close to his grandchildren, who were his greatest source of pride and joy. Always generous, he spent seven years volunteering as Treasurer of the Levine Senior Center in Matthews, N.C., and was instrumental in realizing the dream of having a local gathering place for senior citizens.
Sharp-witted to the end, he said his goodbyes and let everyone knew how much he loved them. He made sure everything was in order before he went to be with the Lord.
He is predeceased by his two sisters, Muriel Malarkey and Constance Pistilli. He leaves Maxine and their daughter, Pamela (Kevin Etter) and five grandchildren: Sarah (Scott Sutton), Daniel, Emily, Robert and Julie. He also leaves nieces Judy, Janice, Sharon, Beverly, Betty Lou, and nephews Jim, Scott, and Chip. The funeral and celebration of life will be held at McEwen Funeral Service, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28210 on Saturday, Oct. 8., at 11:00 a.m. with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Levine Senior Center in Matthews, N.C., would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank two special angels, Chip and Margaritee at Presbyterian Harris Hospice for the loving care they provided to Bob.
Arrangements under the direction of McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, Charlotte, NC.
