Bob’s career was spent in computers, primarily at NCR, where he was a systems analysis for many years. Following retirement, he worked part time for H & R Block.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald C. Thornton. He is survived by his wife, Susan Fisher Thornton; daughter, Shelley Thornton of Cramerton; son, Ed Thornton (wife Camille) of Huntersville; and two grandsons, Thomas Thornton of Chapel Hill and Sam Thornton of Huntersville.
Also surviving are his brother, William Thornton (Margaret) of Hot Springs Village, AR; sisters, Marilyn Munroe of Crestview, FL and DeWanna Kaye Weston (Robert) of Jacksonville, AR; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Bob’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30th between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road in Charlotte.
