Robert Eugene Miller, 82, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Cleveland Pines in Shelby, NC on May 31, 2022. He was born on July 15, 1939, in Wagoner, NC, the first child of Eugene Miller, Jr. and Della Teague Miller who both predeceased him.
Bob (as he was known to his family and friends) died one day before his sixtieth wedding anniversary of June 1st and is survived by his wife Carolyn Reid Miller, two brothers, Tom Miller, Steve Miller and his wife Charlotte, and sister Pamela Hinson and her husband Billy, one aunt and numerous cousins and friends.
He graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1957, where he was a member of the Beta Club and an attendee of Boys State in Chapel Hill the summer between his junior and senior year.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering.
Professionally he worked his entire life in Charlotte at various companies, including Grinnell Corporation and Duke Power. After retiring from Duke Power he worked in a consulting capacity as a licensed Professional Engineer for various companies until suffering a stroke in December of 2017.
He entrusted his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and will be remembered for: his love of family and friends, his diligence and detail to work, enjoying a round of golf and card games with both family and friends, service to his community and helping others who needed assistance. He endured much after his stroke but maintained an optimistic attitude and thanked God for another day of life each and every day.
Any memorials should be made to a charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
Our solace comes from knowing that he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for an eternity with no impairments or pain while joining those who predeceased him and awaiting those of us who will follow him in death.
A private service for family will be held at a later date.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawnwest.com for the MILLER family.
