Bob was born March 22, 1944 in Albany, NY and grew up with his parents in Roanoke, Virginia. After graduating Roanoke’s Cave Spring High School in 1962, Bob studied Textile Engineering at NC State and obtained a Marketing MBA at Georgia State University.
Bob enjoyed multiple years in the textile industry and later became an Independent Medical Insurance Agent. Bob loved dreaming and launching new business ideas from DIY (Do It Yourself), and Medicare Videos to innovative ways of helping elderly clients find the best medical benefit solutions.
Bob married the love of his life, Peggy Harris, in 2002 and enjoyed 16 special years traveling the coast of NC, visiting St. Thomas and regular date nights out in Charlotte.
Bob also greatly loved his dogs over the years from Missy, Sage, Chloe, Scooter and Pugsley, plus the family parrot Lucky Bird.
A few of Bob’s greatest accomplishments included 36 years sobriety thru support of Alcoholic Anonymous, completion of Disciple classes at the Harrison United Methodist Church as well as volunteering with the English as a Second Language classes.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Margaret Cannon and brother-in-law Tracy Bryant. He is survived by his wife Peggy Harris Cannon, children Carolyn Brown, Leslie Steen, and Charlotte Parsons. He is also survived by his sisters Judy Morris and husband Gresham, Marjorie Cannon, and Sarah Bryant. Bob also greatly loved his nieces and nephews: Lee and Andrea Morris and Lauren, Kelsey and Tucker Bryant, and grandchildren Kathryn and Eddie Brown and Jake Parsons.
Services will be held at Harrison United Methodist Church, 15008 Lancaster Highway, Pineville, NC 28134 on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2 pm. A reception will follow at the church.
