Robert was born August 20, 1938 to the late Grover Byrum and Annie Mae Keziah. Robert worked in the amusement business for years owning his own company, Byrum Music & Amusements for many years. Robert's love of pool led him to own several bars and pool establishments: Pockets Bar & Billiards of Matthews, NC, and Two Step and Sportscaster in Pineville, NC.
Robert was a charter member of the James K. Polk Lodge, Pineville, NC.
He is survived by his wife Raynell Gladden Byrum of the home, his cherished Fur Babies - Raven and Lucy, daughters Debra Michelle Byrum, Karen Byrum McAfee and Debra Lynn Hughes, eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Also, sisters Annie Byrum Nesbit, Jane McClain and Frances McCulley, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Patricia Byrum Helms, four brothers Richard Byrum (of Monroe, NC), Donald Byrum (of Charlotte, NC), Johnny Byrum (of Pineville, NC) and Billy Wayne Byrum (of Monroe, NC).
Services will be held at McEwen Funeral Home, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 with the visitation from 12:30 pm - 2 pm, and the funeral at 2 pm. Burial will follow at 4 pm at Monroe City Cemetery (Suncrest), Monroe, NC.
