Charlotte – Dick Griffin, 71, passed away peacefully at Presbyterian (Novant) Hospital on November 7, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Mary and brother Randy. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Mary and his son Preston and daughter Kelly.
Dick attended college in West Point, GA and was a catcher on the college baseball team. After completing college he enlisted in the US Army. Dick worked at several companies in the Charlotte area meeting his wife at Duke Power before acquiring Richardson Electrical Equipment Company and starting a family business of A&A Brass & Aluminum with his father and brother. They eventually acquired Carolina Foundry where he worked until his retirement.
Dick was very active in the Boy Scouts for many decades and was awarded the Silver Beaver, Vigil in the Order of the Arrow and taught in several wood badge courses. He was also active in Girl Scouts while his daughter was growing up.
