Richard Vernon Cullison, 85, of Matthews passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Carrington Place Rehabilitation Center. Richard was the son of William R. Cullison and Mary H. Cullison. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from South Hills High School in Brookline, PA. Richard joined the Army Air Corp after high school and was a pilot in the U. S. armed forces during World War II. After the war he went to Penn State University and graduated in business. In 1952, he married his beloved Nancy E. Dalzell of Ben Avon, PA. He was a fifty year Mason and loved Penn State football and tennis. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his two daughters, Cindy Francisco and Judy Cullison, son-in-law Michael F. Francisco, two grandsons Michael T. Francisco and Anthony R. Francisco and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Myers Park Presbyterian Church 2501 Oxford Place Charlotte, NC 28207 in the Chapel on February 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Richard’s name to the Parkinson’s disease Foundation at 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, New York 10018 or to the charity of your choice.
