Mr. Reichert, 94, of Charlotte died Friday November 20, 2015 at Asbury Rehabilitation Center. A native of Watertown, Wisconsin, Mr. Reichert was born to the late Paul and Elizabeth Reichert on July 1, 1921. He was a member and Elder Emeritus of Holy Covenant United Church of Christ, where he had also served as a Sunday school teacher and greeter. He was a decorated veteran as a Sargent in the Army Air Force of the United States holding the American Theater Ribbon, The Victory Medal, and The Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged January 9, 1946. After his discharge he went to work for Hormel Foods and had a successful career spanning 37 years.
Mr. Reichert is survived by his children, Sherryl R. Stogner of Charlotte, Darrell R. Reichert of Friendsville, TN and Jane R. Whitley of Charlotte; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Mr. Reichert was preceded in death by his wife, Lorine Alma Reichert; brothers, Eugene Ralph Reichert and Lawrence “Buddy” N. Reichert; and sisters, Luella Ida Draeger, Anita Julia (Reichert) Voss, Alice (Reichert) Staahl, Leona Anita (Reichert) Rickerman and Margaret Alvina (Reichert) Melcher.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 24th at Holy Covenant United Church of Christ with Reverend Nancy Ellett Allison officiating. Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
