Randy L. Smith

A native of The Bronx, New York, Randy was born to the late Clyde Lynn and Hattie Marie Smith on December 19, 1959. He was raised by his aunt, Hilda G. Smith and his late maternal grandmother, Bruce O. Smith. Randy was a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro and attended Little Rock AME Zion Church. He was a mentor and advisor to many of his family and friends. Randy was also preceded in death by a brother, William “Bud” Lynn.

Randy is survived by his wife of 35 years Barbara E. Smith of Charlotte; daughter, Kendra Smith (Darnell Thomas) of Charlotte; granddaughter, Kourtney Thomas; siblings, Velecia Middleton (Wil Middleton) of Frederick, MD, Ilanda Dancy (Ollie Dancy) of Charlotte, Joseph Smith of Perris, CA, Annie Ruth Smith of Columbus, OH, Dorothy McNabb of Goldsboro, NC, Clyde Lynn, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; aunts, Hilda G. Smith, Alice Otu and many nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
