Peggy Elaine Prevatt

Peggy Elaine Prevatt, 92, of Charlotte NC passed away while in the loving care of family, Peak Resources Nursing Facility staff and Hospice from a rapidly progressing cancer, however stayed focused knowing everything was In God’s Hands.

Peggy was born on 11/13/29 in Charlotte, NC.

She graduated from Thomasboro High School. She worked at a W.T. Grant Merchandise store 1949 – 1952; then Chadbourn Hosiery Co. as Key Punch Operator 1952 – 1972. Followed by A & P Tea Company as a Key Punch Operator, 1972 – 1992. Last position was as a beloved, joyful greeter at Walmart 1992 – 1999 before retiring to care for her mother.

Peggy was a kind soul to all that met her. She touched many lives with her jovial and positive life outlook, which will be greatly missed by the many lives she impacted. Peggy was an avid reader of mysteries and the bible. She not only studied the bible but beautifully applied its teachings to her life and was a graceful and patient leader. She was an animal lover, especially her homeless cats which she lovingly named and cared for. Peggy was an active and devoted Christian Lady her whole life. Early on she was a cherished children’s vacation bible study and adult Sunday school class teacher.

She is a former member of Thomasboro Baptist Church and Holly Hunter Baptist Church. Most recently, she was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church and HIS Sunday School Class. When she could no longer attend services in person, she enjoyed watching on TV. She continued her active mission to call and write encouraging letters to others. Peggy had a lifelong servant’s heart.

Predeceased by Peggy’s parents Lula and William Prevatt, brother William "Dink" Prevatt; and sister-in-law Mildred Prevatt.

Survived by: Sister, Patricia Williams and husband Sonny Williams; nephew John Williams; niece Sonya Williams; Nephew Bud Prevatt and wife Vicki; Niece, Cindy Prevatt; cousins, Karrie Prevatt Smith (husband Patrick), Beth Alm (husband James Alm); George Shipman; and many dear friends.

Peggy’s family will receive friends at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church (1117 South Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203) in a service and reception at the church. Peggy will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte, North Carolina.
