She has been reunited in Heaven with her parents, Adrian Gatie Helms and Polly (Haigler) Helms, her siblings Junior, Lane, Noot, Sonny, Alan, and her baby sister Bobbie Coleen. Also her husband and the father of their children, Harold Malone; and their daughter, Linda Malone Thomas.
She was born on October 30, 1934 in Mecklenburg County. She was a native Charlottean, attending Paw Creek Schools to the 10th grade. At 16, she married the love of her life, Harold Malone and they had three children.
She asked Jesus into her heart and was baptized at Thrift Baptist Church in 1981. She later was a member of Shady Brook Baptist Church in Paw Creek where she worked in the daycare taking care of babies and little children, showing them the love of Jesus.
Peggy was dynamic - she was feisty and always spoke her mind, but she balanced her spirited nature with her consistent warmth, love, and sweet character. She will be dearly missed.
Those left to honor Peggy’s memory include her children, Tommy Malone (Jan) and Cynthia Little (Gary); her grandchildren, Jack Malone (Jennifer), Alan Thomas, Jennifer Hilton (Jacob), Christian Thomas, Jordan Malone (Madison), Amanda Rekers (Mark), and Carson Warren (Will); and 13 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
The memorial service is to be conducted at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Northlake Assembly of God, 2632 Sunset Road in Charlotte. The visitation will immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
In her free time, Peggy enjoyed gardening, dancing, cooking, playing pool, reading, watching Christmas movies, camping, shopping with her family and going to yard sales. She especially loved spending time with her beloved grandbabies. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.
