Born on July 17, 1957 in Escondido, CA Peggy was a graduate of Myers Park High School in Charlotte. Soon after, Peggy married Steve Brown and started a family. She cherished her time with her family in the role of mother and nana. The precious memories were made during the family’s many cruise ships to the Caribbean, plane trips to the slot machines in Las Vegas and Atlantic City and car rides to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino in Cherokee.
Peggy and Steve had a second home in Pigeon Forge where family was always welcome. While there, you may catch Peggy watching her favorite show on the Food network as she enjoyed her ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. It has been said that Peggy makes a mean lasagna dinner complete with salad and bread. One of Peggy’s favorite places to eat is one of Charlotte’s oldest landmark, Open Kitchen where many laughs were shared with family over a meal.
Left to mourn her loss is husband Steve, daughter Melissa (Cameron) Ford, son Jonathan, grandson Chase Ford and granddaughter Peyton Brown along with her mother Janet Edwards, sister Sandra Edwards and Nancy (James) Freeman and nephews Marshall and Clint.
Peggy is preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law Rita and Bill Washam and her father Marshall Edwards.
The family will greet friends at McEwen Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 22 2021 from noon until 1pm. Graveside service will follow at 1:30pm at Sharon Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. Following graveside, all are welcome to share in fellowship with hors d'oeuvres and light refreshments at McEwen Funeral Service.
