Paul was born on April 28, 1956, in Charleston, S.C., to Henry L. Holliday, Jr. and Pauline Lemmond Holliday. Paul was educated in Charleston County public schools before studying business at Central Piedmont Community College. He grew up as an active member of Asbury Memorial Methodist Church where, as a six-year-old, he sang in front of the entire congregation to the delight of his parents and brothers.
Paul married his true love Lynne Gamble in 1984 and enjoyed an extraordinarily happy marriage that included the birth of a daughter, Kayla, and a son, Colby. Paul’s priority in life was his devotion to his wife and children, and he was an outstanding husband, father, brother, and citizen.
One of the joys of his life was accompanying his wife on business trips to exotic locations around the world, including the Great Wall of China, as she excelled as a National Sales Director with Mary Kay.
For 35 years, Paul owned and operated Absolute Construction & Roofing, Inc. with the motto: “I want my customers to be happy because a happy customer brings more customers.” True to his word, Paul’s customers praised him for being “thorough, meticulous, and affordable.” He was admired by his customers, his staff, and his business associates for his reliability, quality workmanship, amiable personality, and integrity.
Defined by his love for family and his morality and ethics, Paul exhibited unwavering loyalty and fidelity throughout his life. Paul was a kind and patient man with a little twinkle in his eye. He was an accomplished outdoorsman and skilled fisherman who loved to spend time on the water with his children.
Paul is survived by his wife Lynne; his two children, Kayla Holliday Lamar and her husband Tommy Lamar of Charleston, S.C., and Robert Colby Holliday of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers Henry L. Holliday III of Charleston, S.C., and Robert J. Holliday of Folly Beach, S.C.; and cousins Mike Ray (Lynn) of Asheville, N.C., and Dianne Reihl (Gene) of Lake James, N.C., and his nephew Robert (Bobby) Holliday of Charleston and his Nephew John (Lil Johnny) and Niece Faye Holliday Washington State. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother John L. Holliday of Charlotte, N.C.
Friends will be received from 1pm to 2pm and the funeral is scheduled for 2pm, Thursday January 25th, 2018 at 1937 N. Sharon Amity, Charlotte, NC 28205. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Paul’s life.
