Mrs. McCorkle, age 76, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at her home. Born November 25, 1937, she was a daughter of the late James Homer Nance and Mabel Purser Nance. She lived in Charlotte her entire life. Mrs. McCorkle’s passion was her family. She was a former member of CYAC and gave generously of her time to her sons’ activities. Mrs. McCorkle loved to help and please others. She enjoyed shopping, going to the beach and selling Avon.
The service to celebrate the Life of Norma McCorkle will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Newell Presbyterian Church with Reverend Brad Busiek and Reverend Fredrick Griffin, officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Tracy McCorkle, Dwight Purser, Scott McCall, Eddie Wilson, Ed Cauthen and Bobby James will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Oasis Drum and Bugle Corps and their spouses will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM Friday at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service.
Mrs. McCorkle was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Survivors include her husband of 51 years and caretaker, Jerry R. McCorkle; two sons, R. Scott McCorkle and wife, Kim, and J. Bradley McCorkle and wife, Tatevik; grandchildren, Hunter and Maddy McCorkle and Ariana and Vienna McCorkle; and a sister, Donna McCall and husband, Tom.
