Nancy was adopted at infancy and chosen to be dearly loved by Hugh and Peggy Harper of Monroe, NC. There they provided Nancy a beautiful life in the country. Nancy spent her days in the shadow of her Father always willing to help with any chore on the farm as long as she could be near him. Her love of horses developed there as well, and Nancy soon became involved in the Union County Saddle Club equestrian events and shows.
As Nancy began to develop a curiosity for city life, she secured her career serving as an executive assistant for 41 years at Duke Energy. With 5 restful years into retirement, Nancy spent her time doing what she loved.
She was not often seen without her 4 legged friend Riley by her side. Nancy was active in her local neighborhood community. With a goal of 15,000 steps a day, Nancy wore the rubber off many of pair of Hokas as she made her rounds daily talking with neighbors and sitting with souls who needed her gentle kindness. Her 4 legged companion made quite a few friends himself as Nancy was the trusted caretaker of many to pet sit their fur babies.
Nancy is survived by her love and best friend, Jack Edwin, who spent his days giving her a reason to smile. Her one and only child, Brandon Plyler who she treasured dearly. Brandon's wife Allison Plyler and 4 grandchildren; Holden Plyler, Arden Plyler, Beau Plyler and Beck Plyler and her adoptive sister, JoAnn Herron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Peggy Harper, adoptive brother, Milton Harper and her other loyal 4 legged companion, Abby. She was loved by many cousins, friends, neighbors and family.
Nancy will be dearly missed as her sweet spirit and kind nature made an impact on all she met. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Nancy’s huge heart of compassion for animals, donations can be made to The Humane Society of Charlotte.
The family will host a memorial gathering on Monday, October 17th, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road Mint Hill, NC 28227.
In honor of Nancy’s huge heart, and compassion for animals, donations to The Humane Society of Charlotte are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
