Nancy Stephens Stacey (Mae), 88, of Huntersville, North Carolina, passed away comfortably surrounded by family on June 3, 2024, in Iron Station, North Carolina. She was born on November 28, 1935 to the late Clyde & Edna Stephens at their family home in Huntersville, NC.
In her early life, Nancy & her family would attend Sunday church services at Huntersville Presbyterian Church. Nancys faith & devotion to The Lord was a largely important component of her life. Nancy had many fond memories of helping her family out on their farm with growing food and raising livestock. In her teenage years, Nancy would go on to graduate from West Mecklenburg High School, Class of 1954. Nancy would later go on to pursue a career as a secretary where she found a love for caring for people in the medical field. This inspired Nancy to further her education to become a CNA where she would practice in private residences as well as assisted living facilities up until her retirement. Even after retiring, Nancy felt called by The Lord to help others in need. No deed was too big or too small. It was “Just the right thing to do”. It is this loving character that shaped the kind person that Nancy was. In her retirement years, Nancy enjoyed a slue of activities which included: gardening, bird watching, & traveling. Most notably, Nancy enjoyed the North Carolina mountains the most.
Preceding Nancy in death are her loving husband, Carroll Lee Stacey; parents, Clyde & Edna Stephens; brother, Larry Stephens; daughter, Donna Hager Dennis; great-grandson, Nicholas Scott Hunt; & cousin, Carol Jetton Irvin.
Survivors include sister & brother-in-law, Marilyn & Dick Lyles; sister-in-law, Diane Stephens; beloved granddaughter & bonus grandson, Kameron Dennis & Arturo Sosa ; cherished granddaughter, Lisa Hunt; great-grandson, Nakota Hunt; beloved cat, Magic, as well as her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A visitation for Nancy will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service Inc., 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 14, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. A committal service will occur Friday, June 14, 2024 at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212.
The Family would like to extend gratitude to Centerwell Home Health Care as well as Carolina Caring Hospice for their devotion to comfort care for Nancy in her final days with us. The Family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in remembrance to the ASPCA or the Alzheimer’s Association.
