On May 2, 2022, Myra Bumgardner Walker, passed away after a long illness battling Spinocerebellar Ataxia. The beloved wife and mother was 65. Myra was born in Spindale, NC on March 11, 1957; the only daughter of Lee Roy and Ruth Bumgardner. While still a young child, her family relocated to Charlotte. Here she graduated from South Mecklenburg High School where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Terry Walker. They were married for 45 years, and Terry faithfully cared for Myra throughout her illness, until her final days.
Terry and Myra were members of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, where Myra excelled in the music ministry. She was an accomplished pianist, as well as a member of the choir, and frequent soloist. After 39 years of faithful dedication to her career as a medical technician at Carolinas Medical Center, Myra medically retired in 2014. Myra is survived by her husband, Terry, and their two children, Matthew and Madison, as well as her mother, Ruth and two brothers, Harvey and Charles Bumgardner, who will all miss her dearly.
A memorial service honoring Myra’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 4, at 6:30pm, at Pritchard Memorial, 1117 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 5:30pm in the sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Pritchard Memorial Baptist, designated for Camp Ridgecrest, Lake Lodge, or Baptist Men’s Ramp Building Projects.
