Michael D. Freeman, age 58 of Charlotte, beloved husband of Dolores(Duckworth) Freeman for 35 years, passed away April 25, 2014. Born in Charlotte, NC on January 31, 1956, he was the son of the late James Garrison and Sara Morrison Black Freeman. Mr. Freeman was an active member of Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a former Deacon for several years. He was also co-founder of the church’s auto show and member of the Men of the Church. He was an avid antique auto restorer and collector, was an Eagle Scout in the Charlotte area, and the former parts manager at Ford. Mr. Freeman recently worked for Walmart in the Mountain Island area in the bakery dept.
Besides his wife Dolores, he is survived by his sister, Sandra Farrell(Albert) of Fuquay Varina, NC, a nephew Spencer Hight of Garner, NC and his beloved pets; Elvis, Tess and Shelby.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 3:30 PM at Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3413 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., Charlotte, with Pastor TJ Thompson to officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 PM at Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church, Men of the Church, 3413 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., Charlotte, NC 28216.
