Mike Farrell (Michael D. Farrell), age 77, of Long Beach, California, and more recently Charlotte, North Carolina, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 4th, 2024, after a long and heroic battle with various health issues that he overcame for many years.
Mike was born on December 30th, 1946, to Norbert and Ruby Farrell in Long Beach, California. After Mike graduated from Wilson High School in 1965, where he was student body president and an all-state musician, he attended Brigham Young University (BYU) on a football scholarship. He was an accomplished trumpet player and, in addition to having several football scholarships to choose from, he was also offered several music scholarships. He chose BYU and played both football and baseball for the university located in Provo, Utah.
After graduating from BYU, he started his career in sales at Advanced Air Conditioning and Heating. He quickly became their leading salesperson, which opened many doors to a long and successful career as a national sales manager and vice-president for several different companies over the years.
In 1967, Mike married Susan Sullivan. They had 3 children: Brian, Christina, and Angela. He was a loving father who enjoyed doing special things for his kids, helping them, and being involved in their activities. Throughout their lives he was always available for them, and they had many enjoyable and warm visits. Mike remarried in 1996. He and his wife Anastasia lived in Newport Beach, California for many years before moving to Wisconsin, South Carolina, and finally North Carolina.
Mike loved to travel with his wife, Anastasia, visit with his friends and neighbors, and attend his local church. For most of his life he was a scratch golfer who was the envy of many friends and work colleagues because of his abilities on the golf course. He was well known to have a list of dozens of the “top 10” golf courses he ever played! He loved to play golf, tell old stories, and to cheer on his grandkids at their games, recitals, and events.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Norb, his mother Ruby, and his daughter Christina. He is survived by his wife Anastasia, his brother Shim, his son Brian, his daughter Angie, his grandchildren Skyler, Hunter, and Katie, his nieces Lisa and Laura, his daughter-in law Dana, his son-in-law Josh, his stepchildren Cindy Spangler, Mike Thompson, and Laura Easterlin, and his step grandchild Katie Monson.
Mike was a devoted Christian who believed that Jesus is the Messiah, God incarnate, who loved the world so much that He died for our sins, so that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life. Mike is now in glory with His Savior and no doubt enjoying the fruits of his labors for Christ at this very moment.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 11:00 am (with visitation starting at 10:30 am), at McEwen Funeral Service- Mint Hill Chapel, located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
