On May 15th, 2022, Melinda Ann Presson passed away at her home in Riverwalk, Rock Hill, SC following a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded in death by the love and friendship of her brother Scott Presson, her dearest friends, and her savior Jesus Christ. Melinda was born on June 17, 1965, in Charlotte, NC to Bill and Julie Presson. She was adored from the very beginning by her big brother Scott; they shared a bond that was and is unbreakable. Melinda graduated from Harding High School and CPCC; she worked in the insurance industry until joining her family’s company American Fence and Supply. As part-owner, she worked in every aspect of the company, from Saleswomen to Operations Manager. Following the sale of the company, she became a co-owner and President of Amerifence, Inc. Later in her career she managed the Gate Operator division of Allison Fence Company. As a female, Melinda was admired and respected in an industry often dominated by men.
Melinda’s true passion was cycling. She was an avid cyclist in both Charlotte and beyond and enjoyed competing in events, cheering her friends on, and going on long rides with friends and teammates. The cycling community that she cherished will forever ride in her memory. Melinda lived her life to the fullest through her love of travel, adventure, family, and friends. She was an “old soul” who focused her energy on the positive and always had compassion for others. Over her lifetime, she rescued many dogs including her most recent rescue Sammy who gave her his heart and constant love and affection. Melinda's most enduring legacy is by far her role as Aunt Minda to her niece Sadie and nephew Cooper. She was a constant support, role model, unconditional love giver, Marvel historian to Cooper, and fashionista to Sadie. As the only living immediate family member, Melinda filled all the roles with all of her heart, and everyone who knew her knew it.
Melinda was predeceased in death by her mother Sadie “Julie” Presson and father William J. Presson. She is survived by her brother William Scott Presson, sister-in-law Taylor Clarke Presson, niece Sadie Lane Presson and nephew William Cooper Presson. Her loss is also mourned by her countless friends, neighbors, and of course Sammy.
A memorial service for Melinda will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 1pm at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212, followed by a committal service at 2pm.
