Mrs. Mary Bullard Meacham of Charlotte, NC ended her earthly journey and entered Heaven on November 23, 2013. She was the first child born to Renis and Louise Bullard of Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Meacham lived in Charlotte all of her life and graduated from Central High School before attending Queens College. She married DeArmon (Dommie) Meacham and worked for Southern Bell and Northwestern/First Union Bank. Her favorite job, however, was working in the pre-school program of Christ United Methodist Church where she was a member. She loved working with the children and they called her Ms. Mary, Fairy Princess and Queen Bee primarily because of her story telling abilities and her creative flair. She was fun loving, artistic and she loved to sing. She was a member of the church choir many years and recently even wrote and sang about Christmas. She had the ability to make people feel cared about and important. Her unique one of a kind personality drew people to her and she had many dear friends. Mrs. Meacham’s love for her family was unconditional and she was genuinely proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The grandchildren and many of her friends called her Bop and remember her wit and antics with and for them. She had a strong steadfast faith that carried her through many trials and tribulations, especially the death of her youngest son, Rusty. He was always in her heart and we rejoice that she is now reunited with him. Mrs. Meacham was preceded in death by Rusty, her husband and her parents. She is survived by a daughter, Janis Meacham Howe (Bill), her son, G. Mike Meacham (Sherry), her grandchildren, Michael West, Carey West, Christopher Meacham (Heather) and Danielle Eckhoff, her great grandchildren, Hunter Meacham, Hannah Meacham, and Gavin Hammonds, and her brother, Connor Bullard (Eloise). A service to celebrate and remember the life of Mary Meacham will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 2, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church on Belhaven Blvd. The family will receive friends following the service. The family would like to thank several staff members at Charlotte Health Care Center for their kindness and compassion shown to Ms. Mary and the family during her illness. Memorials may be made to Christ UMC, 8020 Belhaven Blvd., Charlotte, NC, 28216 or St. Jude’s Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale St., Memphis, Tenn., 28100.
